About
Greetings!
I've been a Mac Technician and Engineer for over 20 years, having worked at the enterprise level, two Universities and many other companies, large and small (see a partial list below). My primary focus has always been support and engineering, concentrating almost exclusively on Mac products, software and the infrastructure required to make them work properly. Hands-on troubleshooting and fixing of Macs and associated apps has always been a part of that process. I have also installed and worked on home automation systems including Sonos networks.
I have trained teams on Mac Management in Europe, Asia and the Americas, (as well as having spent time as a media literacy instructor for middle and high school students), and am well versed in explaining the ins and outs of technical systems and complex concepts in simple and straight-forward language.
I have over a dozen years experience with the Jamf/Casper Management suite, (now Jamf Pro) used to deploy, image and manage Macs. Included in that experience is Microsoft Active Directory Integration and work with a variety of Security applications.
I ran my own consulting business out of Portland, OR and San Francisco, CA for a few years, and worked with many small business owners and artists. I'm knowledgeable about backup and storage solutions, and can help with some networking, and infrastructure aspects as well.
All that to say I have plenty of experience to fix your machine, consult on your systems, or train you and your team or business.
Let me know what your needs are and we can discuss! I work both onsite and remotely over Zoom, as needed.
You can always reach me at (607) 441-6476 or via email on the Contact page.
Thanks
Phil

Testimonials
Phil did an amazing job designing our computer system for our documentary project, Walking the Camino: Six Ways to Santiago.
He was fast, efficient, knowledgeable, and most importantly incredibly patient and kind even with the most rudimentary questions.
Since then, he's helped me with a myriad of other Apple related issues. To top it off he's totally honest and trustworthy - couldn't recommend him more!
- Lydia (Documentary Filmmaker)
Phil was efficient and knowledgeable. I especially appreciated that he patiently explained everything along the way, which allowed me to learn what to look for next time.
- Miguel (Musician)
Phil is a true gem. He's a wizard of the Mac operating system, so incredibly patient to all of the various issues that we encounter. He dives in and fixes it all while making you smile along the way. I can't imagine what things would be like without him around helping to keep things running.
- Travis (Security Engineer, Start-Up firm)
Phil has just been amazing this year in the Mac environment. He is constantly taking on new projects and owning them to completion. Phil is always helping me learn, and I'm very happy to have him as a mentor.
- David (Mac Engineer, Enterprise Company)

Rates
My rates vary depending on the kind of work and the length of the project. However, for most shorter term job my rate is $75/hr. with a discounted rate of $65/hr if I work remotely over Zoom. Exceptions are certain training/educational sessions and longer term maintenance agreements.
I am happy to provide an initial free introductory session of up to 15 minutes to talk about needs, possible scenarios for any issues you are having. Please note that this initial session will not include fixes or repairs, but is meant as an exploratory discussion, and is available via phone or a Zoom remote session.
There may be a $25-50 travel fee if your job is situated in an area that is out of my regular service area, depending on time of travel. I am in the Woodstock/Kingston area on a regular weekly basis, so no fee for those areas, although there may be a travel fee if a trip is required on a non-scheduled day.
